Fell a tree, burn the wood. Don't use it.

If there was anyone left who thought that the government's approach to energy was completely bonkers, read the link below.

The subsidy paid to burn new wood is so high that it is now forcing wood suppliers (for DIY, furniture etc.) out of business.

Who voted these pr*ts into power? >:( >:( >:(

But we seem to be talking about a "European wide" protest over a European policy  with "unfair" subsidies?

Not the UK government directly then, and the policy being protested about seems to have been around from way beyond the coming to office of the current government ;) ;)

This sort of thing is all about striking a balance. Looks as though they have got it wrong here.

Quite a few years ago we were exhorted to stop using peat in our gardening activities and then I found out that in the UK they were BURNING peat in power stations. At least gardening recylces rather than destroys.

the trouble is the EU is so large and changing legislation takes so long, many will be put out of business before common sense prevails. :(

The Department for Common Sense is surely the least funded division in Brussels....I believe they operate out of a small cloakroom in the disused "Esperanto" section with no phone or fax  ;D
