Well im out of work at the moment and have been for a while as i worked as a contractor there are gaps between jobs thanks to people from over the water coming over and taking the work i have a massive gap before getting back. When i was working i was paying sometimes over £300 in tax a week so does this mean i shouldn't be able to claim back £65 without having to work for it, as i see it i have worked and put plenty in. Its not that im lazy but the only temp work i have seen so far pays less then benifits, plus as we all know miggys are abit of a money pit  ;D but when the job i do comes up i need a big car that can handle long motorway work and a seat that takes my fat asre ;D so i cant buy something cheaper to run.
It is for the long term unemployed - they wont say it out loud but its obviously aimed at those who have no intention of working. Get them of their bums, and give them a routine of doing something other than watching Jeremy Kyle. ;)

JEREMY KYLE good god i would work in the sewers naked with my mouth open before watching that

Washing a car, is like making love to a beautiful woman.  caress the bodywork. Breathe softly and gently. And give every inch of it your loving attention. And make sure you've got a nice wet sponge.

I think its a brillaint idea. Up until 18 months ago I was self employed and earning good money but because of the economic downturn work dried up but I haven't claimed a single penny in benefits, its been hard sometimes but i've managed thanks to the forum ;)

Pete, with this government in office we might see a return to the workhouses!.
Besides that I do agree with you about  a change of government, they did leave the country in a hell of mess, open borders to anyone who wanted to come to the promised land of plenty,a war that was not necessary, and this stupid human rights law, anyhow my feelings run pretty high against the Tories  after spending many months on the picket line, facing Maggie Thatchers bully boys.

But if your honest, can you imagine what would have become of the country if Labour had carried on in government after 79 ?
I think Africa would now be sending aid to us, if that had happened. ;)
Not that I was ever a fan of Thatcher - I disagreed with some of what she did and agreed with some of it. :y

If your fit and healthy but unable to get work and claim benefits.... they should ALL be made to do community work in their area. If they single parents with children in school on benefits, get them to work 9.30 til 14.30!

As for the hard core cons, ie murderers, rapists, child molesters etc, send them on a 6mth tour to Afghanistan and get them 300 yds in front of all our troops on patrol, doing mine clearing. If they survive the tour, they're a free person in our society, if they don't, thats a lesson to those back home...DON'T COMMIT THESE CRIMES!!!!!!

That will save our well trained troops and help clear out the overcrowded prisons... job done!

Wouldn't that put a cat amongst the pidgeons!   :y

The Archbishop of Cantebury has already come out saying it will be 'unfair' and that, by way of example, "ex-offenders who've recently been released don't need too much pressure to find work".

Ah, those poor little ex cons, can't be putting them under pressure to do something productive instead of stabbing people or robbing things, can we  ::)

That didn't take long  ::)

That was then, this is now :)

As far as i'm concerned they're all bent & twisted.
I'll admit that i voted Tory, but only because i was sick of the inept morons we had.

I used to think that the only secure job in this country was a grave digger, but not so sure now, they can now get someone to do it from the jobcentre as part of his dole.
