what an episode....
« on: 11 May 2007, 08:26:20 »

bit long winded but to show how drawn out this has been.......................
as i only have one remote key for my car i was quite desperate in getting a spare in case it got lost/damaged.
i firstly got a key from ebay and found out it was the wrong type, next i got a key from vx £35 and a code card £30 and took the key to peterboro to get it cut and programmed. (guy offered to do it a lot cheaper than vx). while trying he kept getting the message "access denied".
so he was only able to get it cut. he got advice from vx stating his software on his unit was not up to date.
my next visit to peterboro (37 mile trip as there are none where i live) was to a key cutting company with a unit -they assured had the updated software.
on trying it out they stated it was denied access to the the ecu! so off to vx to find out why? they used their tech2 and got the same result! so i blew my top a bit and the workshop manager was called. he said "you have been given the wrong access code i reckon ill let you know within 24 hrs".
he phoned me the next day and stated another code (nothing like the original) so off i went there to get it done. all was ok and i now have a spare!
the moral of the story is -if you pay the earth for something dont assume that it is ok and not everything that is cheap is nasty!!!

ps. the workshop manager was very helpful and didnt charge for the programme! ::) ::)

Hmmmm.......I hope I never lose one of my keys.

Just as an afterthought. I owned a honda legend a couple of years back, only came with one key. I phoned the dealer, he took the registration number, VIN and my personal details. Two days later I got a call asking me to go down with the V5 and proof of ID. New key, £35. Oh, and it worked.
