Uploading pic, help required
« on: 04 December 2010, 16:52:58 »

Can anyone tell me, in English please, in simple terms how to upload pics. I have read Tunnie's how to, and don't have MS publisher, and am quite old so will probably die before I reach the end. The YaBBC is written in YaBBC which we stopped when I was in Form 4b back in the day, so I can understand Latin better, and I don't understand Latin! :-? :-? :-? :-/ :-/ :-/ :y

Google 'photobucket', go to that site & sign up for an account (top right hand of page, it's free!). When signed up they will send you an e-mail with a link to activate your account, click the link & enter your chosen username & password. You are now at your account page, & there is a green button saying 'upload now' near the top right of the page. Click it & the page changes to a box with another green button saying 'select photos & videos', click it & a browser box opens for you to find the photos etc you want to upload to your photobucket account. Having found the one/s you want you can either click on one at a time & upload it or hold down the ctrl button on your keypad to choose multiple images/files at once, then click the 'open' button  & the file/s upload automatically. You can then save them to an album or double click the uploaded file & choose 'share'. The page changes & you have the choice to send the photo to several places i.e. facebook etc. Just click 'Get link code' & look for IMG for bulletin boards & forums. Tick the box for either full picture or clickable link, then highlight the code clicking the left mouse button, then right click, a choice box pops up, choose 'copy'. Now go to wherever you want the picture to appear & right click the mouse, choose 'paste' & there you have it! :D
It sounds involved but really isn't. I'm a numpty where computers are concerned & I managed it so you will too  :y

Well put Phil, .... BUT .... I have an iMac.
Apparently, Photobucket is not available to Mac users, though I'd dearly love to post-up the odd photo or two!

Can anyone shed any light on this? :D

i use Dropbox, imagine it as an online USB stick.

There is an icon at the top dock, near the clock, your click it that gives you a folder. You drop all you items you want to share here, files, pictures, anything. Right click and Select Dropbox > Public URL, gives you a link for it, then just past that into an OOF IMG or URL box, job done. Nice and simple, takes just moments to pick a photo and upload / link  :y
