they walk amongst us....
« on: 22 December 2010, 22:29:33 »

I was telling some workmates about the posting on here of the bmw with the snow chains on the front wheels and then the link with the bmw lady owner who ,finding it difficult to pull away in the snow by just revving the tits off it, put it in gear, got out to give it a push and saw it crash into the house and a couple came up with the following unbelievable but apparantly true case of a mrs grazinski. This lady bought herself a 32' winnebago, set the cruise control to 70mph on the highway then settled down in the back to make a sandwich. Oddly enough the winnebago crashed and overturned. Mrs Grazinski then sued winnebago as it did not state in the manual that you could not do this and expect the vehicle to steer/brake etc on its own . Guess what, a court in Oklahoma found for her and she was awarded not only a new winnebago but also $1750,000. Winnebago subsequently changed the wording on the manual re cruise control. Sounds like an urban myth but seems not...(that infamous "hot " mcdonalds coffee case has a lot to answer for) :o

bugger! thought it might be too funny to be true ;D.nonetheless, you have to admit that there are certainy some stupid people out there and urban myths onlywork if they are plausible. I mean the lady bmw driver for example doing what she did...some actions do beggar belief. Here is a true story and I know its true cause I was witness to it. We have one lift at work. We (had!) one cleaner. I saw her at the foot of the stairs next to the lift . She told me she had just cleaned the lift out but was going upstairs now to clean the top one ;DOh, this again is true, she used to water the plastic potted plants in the office too....

;D ;D ;D Oh yes, there are certainly plenty of 'special' people around!

I seem to recall that the hot coffee warning thing is true, although I can't find it on snopes now to confirm.

I did find this, though  :o http://www.snopes.com/business/origins/mcdspoon.asp

reminds me of a mate who, having been made redundant, started his own small convenience store in rather a rough area of the city. It was some time before he figured out why he was selling a lot of kitkats and oranges to dubious looking characters...

the foil from the kit kats to heat the drugs and the oranges to "sterilize" the needles :o

on Merseyside recently, there was a bus crash. Nothing serious, just a bus on it's side. Following the news report, the company had twelve separate claims from injured individuals.

All were rejected, as it was actually a school bus (not in news report) and there were no adults on board.

just goes to show what happens when litigation goes mad.
