looks to me like two main impacts, one at the bottom, suggesting it was dropped and another towards the top  :-/

The back is Gorilla Glass - glass doesn't take too kindly to thermal sock if it's already cracked or deeply scratched..

Looks as Tunnie says to be honest, impacts at top and bottom, persoanlly I think shes probably dropped it a couple of times, caused the cracking and then came up with a stupid excuse to try and get a free repair, what else could she say caused that damage other than it 'exploding'.

This reminds me, was working in the garage during the cold snap, removing bushes in preparation for pressing new ones into wishbones, iirc! Phone (n900) rang and I missed the call, tried to ring back and the screen was going absolutely loopy selecting all the wrong things and then stopped responding. It was -2c. Took the phone inside and it was fine once warm, or as fine as an n900 gets anyway.

So did wonder how iPhones would work in the cold. :-?

No probs here, screen is glass though so should avoid rapid temp changes  :y

keep it outside -5 for an hour and go inside the home say  22-24 celcius, hot air will quickly condense in it like my glasses ;D

Not had a problem with mine - it was working fine outside at -8 and fine when I walked back into the office (which they seem to keep at about 26C!) :)

Apple say that the iPhone cannot be USED in sub zero temperatures.

Reality is that all (non hardened) phones suffer similarly, its just Apple won't honour the warranty if they find it has been used below freezing.
