Dont bother myself as its mostly junk bar the odd few things. May aswell go to pound land

Our local ones are usually full of east europeans or asylum seekers desperatly seeking a bargain , quite sad in many cases

I am with the OP on this one, many interesting items to be found and bargains to be had at car boot sales.

Didnt go today cos of the weather here, i think Melton Mowbray one is fantastic

boot sale is below them.....

I sometimes go to one, to sell......last time i made about £140 selling my rubbish 

Mind you, it is a civilised one......starts at a reasonable time of 10am.......sod getting up in the dark to goto a 7.30am start on my day off

When we are down at the Caravan (Static) I usually get dragged around the one at Ripon Racecourse, by Miss Vamps   starts at a very reasonable 1.00pm though.....

I used to do them most weeks as a seller and spent many other days looking round as a buyer. Wont go near them now though.
In these parts at least, as soon as you turn up there are dealers/collectors rooting through your stuff before its even out of the car. They ignore repeated orders/requests to "break off", and when theyve finished and the normal punters arrive it gets worse. These days the majority are Eastern Europeans who offer £1 for something your asking £5 for and will stand there all day long trying to wear you down. You tell them to "break off" and within 10 minutes they are back trying the same thing again.
As a buyer I find its a similar story to fleabay - was brilliant for genuine bargains in the early days, but now is mostly people asking silly money for old tat. Genuine bargains seem to be few and far between.

A friend used to sell at car boot sales a few years back. He'd be setting up at 7am on a Sunday in a draughty multi storey car park and would have other sellers sifting through his stuff, before he'd even got them out of the boot.

first item out the boot should be a double barreled shot gun. that should keep em at (e) bay.

I did a regular stall on Wakefield Market car boot sale when I first started out selling books.

We used to arrive at 2am! to make sure we got the stall we wanted. - and some sellers were already there, and set up by then. (one bloke used to arrive at 8pm Saturday night!).

Nowadays, I get up about 10 o'clock and have a wander around the nearest (dewsbury market).
Don't spend a lot, and get the odd bargain.

Used to enjoy both selling and wandering around them. The Vultures who descend on the car when I pull up soon learn as every time one of them starts rummaging I give them 2 warnings... First one polite, second one rather rude  , third time I close the boot/door whether they are rummaging in the car or not

Normally works when the first person is "told" to clear off
