They could also be trying to protect their own positions, but mostly they are being led by their noses by union leaders who are most definintely trying to protect and build on their positions. ;)

...and the vast majority of those public sector workers earn less than £15k per annum. Their pensions average £5k per annum. Hardly what I would call "morbidly obese".  Incidentally they also pay taxes just like the rest of us.  I would imagine the thugs causing the destruction have never worked a day in their meagre little lives.

Average public sector pay is £23,660 (2009-2010)
 ;)

Nick I am SURE you have the intelligence to know that the average isn't what the majority get.  Put yourself in a room with Beckham and tell me you both earn that average.

Sure, HC, but I am equally sure that it is impossible to say that the majority on the march today earn less than £15k. I read one interview with a university professor (or similar) and I'll bet £15k that she is on much more than £15k.  ;) ;D

Maybe the people on the march are just trying to protect the people who are on £15K? No. Surely no-one could be that bothered.

I don't think many of the marchers knew exactly why they were marching, except against the nebulous generic notion of "cuts", which is a bit odd as, despite being broke, public expenditure is going up again this year. :-?

Anarchists, bless 'em.

Still, despite the "cuts" there's at least one on these pictures that can afford an aerosol to vandalise a car.

Would have been such a shame if the driver of the limo had accidentally slipped into reverse and slipped on the pedals.

I really can't stand vandals & those who destroy other people's property, drives me up the wall. (Pardon the pun)

OK -- I was a bit off on my guesstimate:

Only 3% of civil servants earn less than £15k
Around 32% earn £15 - 20k
Around 23% earn £20 -25k

March 2010 civil service  average was £23680 (private average £24695) --

So 58% earn less than the national average.

None of that, of course, excuses those poor apologies for human beings that wantonly vandalise property for, basically, the pure hell of it. And, to be honest ... what were the peaceful protesters thinking, bringing kids and families along..... of course rent a-mob would be appearing.
