Duckweed/Garden Ponds
« on: 02 April 2011, 00:04:00 »

being a fish lover i have a small pond in my garden last year there was a heron kept on knocking about so i got a plastic heron and hey presto worked a treat.
Next came along a fox that had 3 fish away so i put a wire mesh panel over the pond hey presto again fox never came back took mesh off and still ok
Next thing theres another bird that im not familiar with swooping down so i got some duckweed from the local canal covered the water the fish are hid and are happy and this new bird cant see them anymore thing is the weed dies off around November time or it did in the local canal.
Now to the point
Anyone any idea when duckweed starts appearing again?

I saw loads last week, so it's certainly growing well this time of year. Saw a few alligators lurking in it too.

Oh,  I was in Florida. ;)

Aye its normally fairly soon, but its a pain to get rid of, make sure you give it a sweep out every so often (it makes good compost)  :y
