Just had tractor driving fun
« on: 13 April 2011, 20:12:10 »

Yesterday a Spanish neighbour who helps us out a lot, asked can you help me tomorrow. Yes says I see you at 8.00 a.m.

When I got there equipped and kitted out for most eventualities it turned out to be a nice job driving his New Holland tractor towing his 2000 litre capacity spraying rig around his newly aquired groves while he followed on foot spraying the dense foot high weeds via 50 metres of tube and a pistol.

Quite exciting in a few places as olive groves tend to be on steep stony slopes that you can't grow wheat on. The two groves didn't disappoint and even had deep mud in a few places despite no rain for two weeks. Saw a cuckoo as well which was nice.

Afterwards we decanted to a bar and had some tubos of beer , red wine chasers, free tapas and put the world to rights. Interesting to get a different perspective on world problems. I was chuffed to bits when he told his mates I was a good tractor driver.

No wonder everyone has a siesta here after eating "lunch" at 3 p.m.!!  :y :y

excellent!!! that is the problem when i fix a spaniards car or quad etc, they insist we go to Antonio,s and have a bottle or two, as you say after putting the world to rights its impossible to get back to work!!!
here i can drive the 1966 renualt tractor with only one working brake :-[ the 4000k forklift with one flat tyre(damned dangerous) lol or the 1982 mitsi pajero which has not been on the road for around 15years and is used as the little tractor lol i fitted some huge offroad tyres to it that were lying around and so far we havent managed to get it stuck anywhere, but the grip does make the differenetials sqeal quite often!! waiting for one to go bang!! ;D
