tunnie is back from the Lakes
« on: 29 May 2007, 22:46:10 »

had good weather too, unlike back home it seams. Saturday, Monday and Tuesday saw the best weather, very hot on Monday, m8 even got sun burnt!  :o

Climbed Scafell pike, generally had a good time drunk loads of beer  :D

How did the Senator run? Well engine wise like a dream, 90+ cruise. 2 hours of stop start M6 traffic on the haul up, 15 mile strech at 100ish on the M6 Toll (i was keeping with the flow!!!)

Lots of heavy hill driving for several days in the Lakes.... over 750 miles the Senny averaged 28mpg.

With 45 stone of body weight, and VERY full boot, plus loads of beer, food and camping gear very impressed. On the run up until we reached the lake it averaged 30.4 mpg.

Bad news is the i need new springs!  :( -  With 45 stone of body weight in the car (a m8 is a big lad at 20 stone) and the full boot... at speed with the back bouncing, the exhaust hit the road... and grinded it down quite a bit.

Was a horrible sound, and the trip has filed it down a bit, with no gear in, but with my m8 in, it only did it once or twice, so i need to raise the back end....

I am thinking Omega V6 Estate Springs? - The Senator had odd springs before, maybe thinking that was the reason.

Few piccys * note for James, this campsite allows open fires and dog friendly  :y:

Glad you had a good time. Can't wait to be there in 2 weeks. It P***ed down all weekend here, without a break!

If it's grounding due to excessive bouncing rather than plain being too low, it could be the shocks that are your problem.

It was fine, unless the boot was also full of gear. The zorst hangs extra low anyway.... the shocks seam good...
