I was on night shift last night and got to bed at arounf 830am. By 10am someone was on th allotments behind our garden trimming the long grass and weeds with a petrol strimmer.
If I had a shotgun................. ::) ;D

Not done a night shift for about 20 years, but I know what your saying. Nothing worse than trying to get some decent kip when the weather is warm and sunny and folk have time off.

The countryside is also a cacophony of noise.

There's a long established rookery in trees opposite my house - the noise from what seems to be in excess of 150 birds really does need to be heard to be beleived.

There's also a flock of sheep in the field beside me - they're noisy bastaads as well.
Large agricultural machines are driven with such verve that the noise rattles the windows in the house and when the field rollers are dragged from field to field, without being lifted from the road, it’s like an earthquake.

Den , I'll bet their nothing like these wee Leprechauns at the bottom of my garden....... ;D

Keep an eye out for that crock of gold Don. ;D

You wanna get yerself a gun licence  ;)[/quote]

With a silencer - to keep the noise down :-)

We have woods near us and about once a month they have (I presume) a shooting club on a Sunday morning.

I'm thinking those of you who like your peace & quiet on a Sunday probably need to move to northern Germany..

It's still illegal there to wash your car, do your washing (and hang it out on a line) or to cut your grass on a Sunday morning. There isn't even anywhere to go since almost none of the shops are open..

(Because they're all supposed to be at church)

Hmm.. (Thinks about what a wonderful afternoon he spent out in the back garden with a router making some speaker cabinets.) ::)

Still, my neighbour was flying a glow plug R/C Helicopter round his garden. ;D

Always wanted a proper petrol R/C Heli .. though I suspect the only thing I'd be able to fly it into would be the ground ;D

Was nice and quiet here yesterday, although the neighbour's little one had a birthday party, so you did here the usual muffled comments of mums boasting about what their toddler can do. But no noise really, beyond the sizzling of a burger on the coals...

...now that stupid 'race' thing in July, that is a PITA, as we become the world's busiest airport, and only helicopters can land. And just to watch some rather dull looking cars follow each other around 3.5m of asphalt...
