Its about time something was done. remember when fuel first hit £1 per litre and all the trukkers formed blockades and go slows ? why has it took so long for this to happen again. I appreciate that when work is so scarce at the moment, many may have to concerned to stick their necks out by making any sort of protest. But surely enough is enough ? oil prices have just fell yet petrol prices are doing nothing but rise.

Isn't the price of oil lower now than in 2008? If so, how come we're nearly at £1.50 p/ltr now?

Its a case of "just bend over and take it"  >:( >:(

Your right there! and as for the 'alternative'-public transport -what a joke. anyone who needs to travel on a regular basis from one town to another is shafted. either pay a fortune in fuel or take twice as long to get there and at times not convenient  :( :(

There's something seriously wrong if taxation from fuel sales is one of the few Treasury receipts keeping this country going, all the same.

Therefore the likelihood of any drop in taxation level (howsoever modest) would be nil in my estimation.

Very true, but don't the petrol providers have a duty to their customers as well ? greed has over ruled any sense of fairness from both them and the government :( :(

They do have a duty to all users, but the Government & Suppliers are in each others knickers pockets! >:(

We'll not win unless the WHOLE Country stands up and says enough is enough. Unfortunately, we Brits are good at complaining, but we never seem to do anything about it and stand as one. Until then, we will always lose.  :(  IMHO

Out of interest what is the average price of unleaded now in the UK?

It always seems to track the UK price here in Spain but 1euro 39 cents as opposed to £1.39 pence a litre. I got a very pleasant shock yesterday when it was down to 1.35 cents from Wednesdays price of 1.39. Although the £ euro rate has changed  from 1.11 to 1.14  these last few days I wouldn't have thought that would affect the pump price that quickly. In any case I thought oil was bought in dollars. The US dollar has weakened apparently. If so the price in the UK should also have dropped?! ::) ::)

Best of luck to them i say. Although i think it may all be in vain.  :( Cant see the price even coming down. People have to use there cars, the boss knows that. They got us by the balls. If it was £2 a lt i think we would all still crack on and pay out. This country has gone to the dogs :(
