urgent help needed
« on: 15 June 2011, 15:14:12 »

Hi guys. I am 300miles away from home on holiday with me caravan in St Leonards, East Dorset, just outside of Ringwood. My Miggy has broken down and I am at a loss, I am due to go home next Thursday, I had Green Flag out but the mechanic had no idea what he was looking for, so I need our clubs help. my miggy is a 2.2 Diesel and brought me down from York no problems, this was on Saturday, I used her yesterday no problems, this morning she won't start, I called out Green Flag and the mechanic split the injector and there was no fuel supply, he then started trying to find why there was no supply from the pump in the tank, he gave up and left telling me to try a new pump relay, I have bought a new relay but the battery is too tired to turn her over, also I have very minimal tools with me. I do not have access to wifi on the site so I can't get pc access to answer emails, so I am leaving my telephone number if any body can help me, this is not a wind up, this is desperation, I have managed to use a phone to post my predicament. Please check I have been a member for a while, and I have done other posts, my telephone number is 07855 648886, or 077398 69709. Could some kind member please bump my post to other forum parts where they can be seen so I can get the most coverage, Sincere Thanks. Tankie1rtr

update
Hi all. Here ia an update on our situation, if anybody has any ideas please lat me know. I have replaced the Fuel Pump relay, checked I have fuel, (half a tank) I have put on a fully charged high power battery, I cvracked an injector and turned it over for quiet a while, no fuel feed, I broke the lowest point feed pipe from the pump to an injector (lowest pipe from the pump) turned her over for quiet a while, not a drop of fuel from the pump, I am beginning to think the pump is knackered, has anybody any other ideas, if so please ring or text me on the numbers given. Any moderator will vouch for me being genuine. Thank You. Regards Tankie. :(

Sounds like ait has got into the fuel feed. Easiest way to bleed these is to fit one of these:-

I'd find the fuel filter housing and check to make sure it's full to the brim with diesel, be careful when refitting the lid, they only really need to be finger tight and it's easy to pinch the seal or crack the housing.

Once it's full and the lid is back on then try cranking the engine over on the starter motor for a while, run it for around 5-7 seconds and then let it cool for around 5 sec's. Do that around 4 times and the car should start, if it doesn't then refill the fuel filter and try again.

If after 3 goes at refilling the filter it still won't start then you can try either towing it or a can of 'Easy Start', that should be enough to suck the fuel through and get it running... if it just runs for a few seconds and then dies then I'd be about ready to condemn the pump...

Also, if you do try and fill up the filter have a check for any tiny metal fragments that may be caught up in it, a sign of mechanical pump damage.

Any engine light issues recently? Has the rev counter been playing up?
