Official: OSCE says developed world population declining dangerously.

http://faustiesblog.blogspot.com/2011/07/official-osce-says-developed-world.html

No need to watch the full video, just see the first few minutes..

I was led to believe over-population was the problem.

Nickbat,

Have to say, I was surprised that you got sucked into this debate (nothing personal and not insulting you), but surely you don't believe this?  :-?

How many times do we hear "Official's" claiming this or that, then it get’s disproven by other groups.

I mean look at 'global warming', Ooo... it's all of us using our cars and causing the death of the world.
Funny how "Official's" have amnesia about that subject and quickly want to move on to something else  ::)

Goose, I didn't get "sucked" into the debate, I was merely pointing out that there is a counter-view to that regularly peddled by the Malthusians (who, coincidentally, are often found to pushing the global warming bandwagon!)  ;)

Have to be honest, I didn't watch the whole recording, got bored quarter of the way through.

Would be interesting though, on a mathematical scale, with the rate of decline, just how long it would be before the human race was to become 'extinct'.  Obviously it would have to be based on natural decline as it would be difficult to calculate any 3rd, 4th, or however many world wars that will / were to take place!

I can assure you it is not relevant in Southwark, still waiting on the census results, to compare with ten years ago. Migration to those declining areas should become compulsory maybe ::)

Overall world population growth is going up due to large population increases in South America, Asia and Africa. In European, USA and Japan the indigenous population is declining, which is what the video is about.   :o

This is the reverse of the last 200 years when there was mass migration to North America, Africa, Australia and New Zealand, from a large growth in Europe's population due to the Industrial Revolution and escaping famines, like those in the 1840's and 1850's in Ireland. Our great grandparents typically had about 10 children, if they hadn't most of us wouldn't be here.  ::)

What this means is that we all have to breed more or accept mass migration to here from the counties of large population growth. The alternative is to accept a decline in population and standards of living due to an ageing population.

In many East European countries their populations are declining, due to it being better to migrate to richer western European countries as economic migrants and a very low reproduction rate of about 1.2 - 1.3 children per couple. The population decline is especially bad in Russia and Ukraine, about 0.5% a year, that they now pay large sums of money to the the parents when a child is born, but the decline continues.
