Spitting in public

I absolutely loathe it. It is a vile practice and certainly condusive to the spread of TB.

Now, if a policeman sees someone gobbing in the street, would you expect him (or her) to remonstrate with the offender?

If you think that would be the case, think again. The police are told to treat spitting as a "cultural issue" and ignore it.

Don't believe me?

I read some of the comments on that site. Presumably from some serving and some retired police officers.

I am truly frightened at the intelligence level of todays officers.

I deleted the next bit as I feared I would be offending someone.  >:(

Words fail me.. on so many levels.

Bring back the swift clip round the ear, I say. Grounds for dismissal these days, I should think.  ;D

I don't live in a particularly rough area, quite the opposite, in fact. Pond life gathering outside the local off license is about as bad as it gets but I've witnessed a couple of occasions when the Police (well, PCSOs normally) make a reasonable request only to receive a load of abuse, including spitting, in return.

I'm afraid, if the Police are to be respected, this sort of nonsense needs to be binned. :-/

.. and God help us if we end up with a generation of people who display this level of respect for authority into later life. :(

Spitting was very common at my school in the early seventies. Some uneducated  morons would flob into their hands before flinging it across the classroom. :( :(

One of these kids was later expelled for taking a dump in the swimming pool.... :-/ :-/. Noboby was allowed to use the pool for a whole term thanks to this cretin..... >:( >:( >:(

I attended a well respected grammar school and not a failing comp linked to some sink estate.

Standards have been slipping for many years now. I should add that the cane and the slipper were in regular use during my time there....OUCH!!!
