(i must be mental!)

He said it!

Not even a picture on the listing either! Having spent a grand on it doesn't make it worth that much!

It is a shame he allowed it to get to that state.

The 605 was an excellent car. The handling was suprisingly good, the seats were lovely and the engines (with the exception of the 12v 3.0) were strong.

The 24v 3.0 was very rare (only made it for 18months) and very quick.
They are collectable now, but that is worth no more than £300-£400.

Dave, I owned a BEAUTY 605 when I was 19. It was the 3.0 24v V6 SVE Automatic, with one doctor owner before me. Immaculate, lovely black leather, and standard Pug 17" alloys, the whole car was unmarked. It was a real pleasure to drive, and the worst thing I ever did was get rid of it. I paid £1000 for it.

Boy, did it use some fuel, though :( ;D

Although nice, given a choice now, I'd stay with an Elite....

My mum had the estate - soon fixed the faulty engine (1.3) by dropping in a 1.6 real engine, that 1.3 was crap, I don't know why but I get the feeling they tested all the parts after manufacture and put all the failures in the 1.3s and all the good bits in the 1.6s.

I used to like the 1.6, easy to work on, tough, quite easy to tune. ran the Sunbeam 1600 for 18 months while out of work.
