engine swap discussion...
« on: 24 August 2011, 19:47:09 »

Hello to the members, been a while since i was active on here :P
Im fancying an omega again...but with an engine swap to the 2.8T like in the VXR and wanted peoples opinions lol

Based on experience i think it'll probably be a facelift saloon as imo they look better and less prone to rust than the prefacelifts, the ex plod S60 2.4 T5 is fast but its not as much fun as the old omegas were that i had being proper wheel drive lol
I dont know what'll happen regarding the ECU lol, might involve some bodgery :P

thanks in advance
Alex

B-b-b-but im addicted to boost :P i thought about turboing a 2.5 lump ages back but couldnt be bothered because of the melting block issues lol, if it needs to be then the mig can be a project car till its running but both engines run on motronic ecus so thats why i looked into it

the volvos remapped to 350ish bhp (with 460nm of torque lol so its quite fruity) i had an ex plod omega 3.0 and that was probably enough with it being RWD but i think i'll want more with it being about 50 bhp down on the t5 even as standard and now 150bhp down

...on another note, whats the most anyone on here has taken a 3.0 or 3.2 upto? i know you can swap the cams over and stuff but what else can you really do? do the omegas respond quite well to decat pipes?

thanks

if you accept some bodgery to an extent, the engine will fit.. but not sure you can sell the car later easily :-/

imo its much better to buy a suby sti and play as you like, no need for adventures.. :y
