V6 intake mod??
« on: 10 June 2007, 13:16:50 »

I went to see a 3.0 Elite est today..Very nice car apart from 1 door :( Anyway it had a modified air inlet system, basically the trumpets have been scraped and a custom ali box made to duct the air from the main airbox straight into the 2 airpipes on the plenum. Anyone else seen anything else like this?? any good??

Yes, very similar, except thet had used the standard air-box. Does this mod actually help in any way?

I would hazard a guess that if it made any improvement it would only be at the top end of the rev range. Removing the multi-ram will kill torque in the low to mid range though. It might give you a few more BHP on paper but in reality probably won't make the car faster.

Also, that setup looks prone to sucking hot air from the engine bay which won't help, although you say this particular one uses the standard airbox.

Not a reason not to buy a car if everything else checks out OK but if someone's been modding look for bodges elsewhere! You could always put the bagpipes back on.
