Amazing Audi
« on: 12 September 2009, 17:45:30 »

Took my wifes very poor looking Audi 80 TDi estate for its MOT earlier. Its an L reg, 176,000 miles, non functioning turbo, paint strippered side (Hoodlams local to the bloke I brought it from walked down his street covering every car in the stuff) and cost me just £200 2 1/2 years ago.

Spent a couple of hours checking it over, greased and tightened the rear wheel bearings, checked the lights etc etc.

It sailed through :) :D ;D. Only notes on advisory were rear pads getting a bit low and one tyre wearing on the inner edge.

That has got to be one of the cheapest cars in the world!!!!!

Thats all, just showing off!

I've always rated Audis. Solid, well built & tough as old boots. They're bringing some cracking models out now (if you can afford 'em!) but what i like the most is the understatement. If you can afford a new one it says "i'm doing ok but don't have to shout about it" as in Merc, BMW etc.
Lastly let's not forget who made the swb Quattro!!!! :y

Your right, it is as gutless as a Citroen 2CV (more so even ;D) but I used it for work yesterday and did nearly 200 miles. As long as you read the road ahead then the speed thing isn't an issue. It can cruise quite happily at 60-65 and seeing as I never touched a motorway then that is plenty fast enough for me. It may also help that living in Lincs we have almost no hills.

Last year when I took it for the MOT I must admit I was a bit worried about the emissions with the turbo not working, but it passed with flying colours so it wasn't a concern this year. I just take it for a spin in second and rev the nuts off it before going to the garage. Always seems to work :)

I had an Audi S2 myself. Chipped to 270bhp and an amazingly underated car. Was gutted when it went and knew i'd always regret it. But 16mpg (on a good day) and only able to run on Shell Expensive stuff (sorry the name escapes me) just made it completely unfeasable to keep. :(

Must admit, I was glad to get back in the tractor this morning ;)
