WIth great thanks to OOF and particularly to welung666, my Omega is at last running properly. It is taken a while and cost a lot of money, time and effort to turn a tired 2.2 into a reliable daily driver.
If you are looking to buy one, check if any of these parts in the following list need attention and buy accordingly. My humble 2.2 has now cost about £3000

Full HPI registry check
VOSA MOT and full history check
History check and confirmation that cam-belt and water pump replacement were carried out and 78676 miles, next due at 118,676 miles or 21/02/11.
MOT test, passed no advisories
Engine:
Major 100,000 mile service completed
Three short additional semi synthetic oil changes carried out
Three oil filter and plug changes
Engine flush treatment (first oil change)
Valve lifter treatment (second oil change)
Spark plugs replaced
Cam-cover gasket replaced
DIS kit with rubber boot, springs, gasket replaced
Battery level checked, tested on condition meter
Throttle body removed, cleaned, tested, re-assembled
Power steering pump checked and pipe clips tightened
Exhaust and manifold:
Removal of 3 broken manifold studs
10 new Vauxhall OE manifold studs fitted
New multi-layer VX manifold gasket fitted
Heat shield bolts drilled out and replaced
Complete 3 part exhaust system fitted, including new brackets
Tested second-hand catalytic converter fitted
Exhaust system, catalytic converters and sensors leak tested.
Complete system engine-tail pipe confirmed leak-free
Cooling system:
Emptied, flushed
Coolant replaced with high strength red coolant
New thermostat and gasket kit fitted
Header tank and sensor replaced
Transmission:
Automatic gearbox fluid flushed and replaced with Dexron3
AT filter inspected and cleaned
VX OE transmission gasket replaced
Body and exterior:
OSF door stay removed, cleaned, spot welded, primed, painted in Persia Met
NSF front door check strap washers replaced
OSF door check strap washers replaced
OSF door handle removed, cleaned, lubricated
All cabin door latches and catches lubricated and adjusted
Boot-lid hinge mechanism lubricated and adjusted to cure rattle
Scuttle panel drained and drain hole cleared
Interior shampoo valet including boot
Exterior cutting compound and wax finish
Front and rear number plates replaced
Body checked (inc. under-body) and touched in as required
Steering and suspension:
NS front wishbone and bush set replaced complete
OS front wishbone and bush set replaced complete
Front wishbones torqued
Steering idler replaced
NS track rod inner and outer assembly replaced complete
OS track rod inner and outer assembly replaced complete
Four wheel laser alignment assessment for toe-in/out and camber
OSF wheel camber adjusted
Front tracking adjusted 6mm
Steering wheel re-centred
Rear suspension and bushes inspected
Tyres:
4x tyres: Triangle Talon Sport TR918 fitted
4 new valves and adhesive balance weights fitted
Tyre pressures checked including spare
Brakes:
Major brake strip-down and service
Brake fluid drained and replaced with Mobil DOT4
Front brake discs replaced
New Mintex brake pads fitted front and rear
Handbrake and pads stripped, cleaned, lubricated and adjusted
Lighting:
NS headlamp replaced complete
OS headlamp replaced adjusters, refitted
New headlights aligned to MOT standard
Osram Nightbreaker H1 headlight bulb +90% upgrades fitted
Philips Xtreme H7 main beam bulb +90% upgrades fitted
6 LED clear white sidelight bulb upgrades fitted
Electrical:
2x ignition key outer cases replaced
2x remote key batteries replaced
Twin horns removed, inspected, front horn replaced
Under-bonnet alarm switch replaced
NSF speaker replaced
Selector brake light switch relay cleaned
Gear selector lock actuator cleaned and lubricated
Fuel flap release motor replaced
Tech2:
Fault codes scan, no faults present
Vauxhall central computer updates for:
Gearbox software
Engine management
Climate Control
Outstanding recalls or notifications check, none present
Cruise control fitment enabled
Miscellaneous:
Pollen Filter replaced with carbon filter
Both wiper blades replaced, arm springs lubricated
Wash/wipe system flushed, jets re-aligned
NSF door inner trim upper internal beading repair
OSF door inner trim upper internal beading repair
OSF inner door trim removed, catch mechanism adjusted and lubricated
Missing grommets and screws replaced as required
Assorted corroded minor fasteners replaced
Number plate bolts replaced with correct colour
Mat clips replaced
Steering column cover removed and wires secured to cure rattle
Missing towing eye supplied and checked
First aid compartment latch replaced
Tow-bar:
All Scotch-locks removed and all connections professionally soldered
Upper and lower tow-bar sockets removed, cleaned, packed with grease, refitted
Lower (main) socket replaced with new socket to cure fault
Tow-ball cleaned and greased
Tested with light bar and meter, all working correctly
Tow-ball and socket covers cleaned and anti-damp spray applied
Upgrades:
Upgrade headlights, main beam and sidelights
Multi-function cruise control stalk fitted and enabled
If you are looking for a car, wait until you know more about them and buy one off here from a well respected member of OOF. This will save the heartache of sorting out a tidy, but mechanically suffering car which costs a fortune to rectify.
