As much as we love them, Miggys don't really sell for much but Vectras seem to be the illegitimate spawn of Satan. I've bought one in the interim, not bad nick, a few little jobs needing doing. £230 for the car, no rust in pretty good nick. I've probably spent £150 doing bits on it like a couple of tyres and MOT. It drives really well, to the point I might even keep it. I can't believe that people get rid of cars like this, just because they are are not desireable. How can scrapping a perfectly good working car for a new one be any good for the environment?

imho, scrapping a good working car for a new one is just a murder.. I still keep my 97 and will for many years..

Look at it this way: You could buy a really lovely classic, keep it in the garage for high days and holidays. It will keep its value and give you infinitely more pleasure than a Eurobox. In the meantime, you drive an older car with plenty of life left in it and lose next to no money because its only worth pennies.

Possibly because of pressure from the Ecoquangos in the Govt. Vauxhall, in fact all manufactures (and insurance companies) seem to be hell bent on scrapping.

My last vehicle, a Carlton, was deemed scrap by the insurers because of a broken headlight glass - £250 they reckoned to fix it, £50.00 off ebay i fixed it myself and then they ordered me to re-mot the car (£50) then get a VIC certificate (£ ? lord knows...). As it turned out a few months later the car was condemned by my garage as they could not get replacement door sills from Vauxhall (conspiracy?), the car was pretty tired anyway after 20 years so i scrapped it and moved on.

The old car fetched 3 times the scrap value so there are plenty of people out there looking for parts!

Lets hope the miggy has its day in the future. Look at the Ford Capri and the like. They were crates at the best of times, I know cos I had 2. Worth a fortune now for a goodun!The Miggy, if kept in good order will also be desirable. 20 years from now, "Do you remember the Omega?"...... 8-)

its better to buy a quality used car with all the depreciation gone than a lifeless box thats new
