Not bad value?
« on: 03 March 2010, 18:40:45 »

I have spent £495 in maintenance for the omega.
Includes:
4 new tyres, 4 oil and filter changes, 1 air filter, pads all round, aux belt tensioner, PAS pump and 2 front discs.
This is for 2 years and 24000 miles. Only thing not included is tax, mot and fuels.
I think that is not bad  :y

access to TC, and doing most jobs DIY saves a considerable amount of money. Running the 3 we have DIY is cheaper than just sending one to a garage.

TBH it's not too bad... Cambelt kit, Cam Cover Gaskets and full service when I first got it, along with wishbones and 4 tyres, WIM Treatment, lots of services, LPG Conversion, another 3 Tyres, More servicing, 2 MOT's, More servicing, Steering Idler, More servicing ::) ::)

But, I've done 45K in it now, about 30k on LPG, saving approx 10p/mile, so have essentially still saved money running it so far :y :y

I reckon I've saved more running on LPG than the entire servicing/maintenance costs thus far :y :y :y

I've spent double that in just 6 months  :'( Does this mean on that rate that I'm now going to get 4 years of trouble-free motoring?  :-/

I've spent more than that in one month - glad when it's all done  ::)

I used to do my own repairs with a hammer, screwdriver and feeler gauge  but i think you need more than that to fix cars these days.....better leave it to the professionals  ;)

oh - i had an A/F socket set too  :y
