My 'new' Elite
« on: 14 March 2010, 20:21:42 »

This weekend, I have been sorting out a few of the little niggles with the Gold Elite.

When Darth Loo-knee and I did the stat on Thursday, the coolant was in a hell of a state.  So flushed that through about 10 times, until it was clear.  Now at the proper 50:50 mix :)

The vague steering turned out to be a really knackered steering idler, possibly the worse I've ever seen  :o.  That took a few hours and a couple of phone calls for calrification ::), and the muppet who had done it last time had knackered the gaitor over a ball joint.  Fortunately, I had an old track rod end, so nicked gaitor off that (thanks for tip MDTM :y)

Next the glovebox, which kept flying open, and hitting Mrs TheBoy on the knees.  She said it was getting tedious ::).  Trip to scrappy to get a glovebox from a prefacelift, and swap the mechs over.  Also fixed the glovebox damper whilst there.

Repaired the phone prewiring that a previous fitted had bodged and butchered  >:(.  Just awaiting a carkit to turn up from egay now.

Fixed the clips that hold the carpet covering spare wheel.

Swapped over a couple of the microswitches from the 'wrong' keyfob to the 'right' one.  Need to get another fob methinks. 2 button ones won't program. Bugger.

Worked out why Trafficmaster wasn't working - some tinker had nicked it.  Popped another in, and got that working.

Replaced the (non Bose comfigurable) ccr2006 with a ncdc2013 and swapped the MID for a GID, so I have satnav.  Also fitted the missing Trafficmaster loom at the same time - what a sod of a job that is  >:(

Managed to blow a few bulbs in GID ans in the vents.  Trip to dealer!  Also need to buy some door check strap bushes - all mine are in the back of the MV6, which is on its holidays in Nottingham ;D  :-[.

Nah, won't have it long enough to be worthwhile.

Is there a thread for this new beast, or is it in the gallery? I'm guessing saloon? 3.2?

Nope. Its the temporary car I've bought whilst the MV6 is off the road  :'(

Certainly not my first choice of colour. Or interior colour. Or interior material. Or engine. Or gearbox (given the engine).  But I quickly needed a reliable runner, and the previous owner had given this the love and attention it deserved - shame his garage hadn't  >:(.

Next the glovebox, which kept flying open, and hitting Mrs TheBoy on the knees.  She said it was getting tedious ::).  Trip to scrappy to get a glovebox from a prefacelift, and swap the mechs over.  Also fixed the glovebox damper whilst there.

What was wrong with some sticky tape...aka Blue Peter style  :y ;D
