Golden Nugget
« on: 10 May 2010, 20:28:42 »

Had a spare hour or so, so more stripping of Golden Nugget.

Off with cambelt (once engine in safe position), off with cam covers, out with the 3l cams.  I've popped the cam caps back on the heads to keep them correct in case I sell/reuse/refurb the head.

2 questions struck me as I did this:

1) How does Mr DTM do this in the blink of an eye
2) How come both times I dropped the socket, it went striaght into the oil pan I've got under the sump  >:( ;D

I have stored the cams in a plastic tray, which I've filled with the engine oil that came out of the car. Is that OK?

Sounds OK to me. Alternatively, give them a good douse in WD40 and wrap in cling film.

Any clues as to why it died?

Have you checked your lifters again?
I have just had a car bought over and I am sure a few lifters have failed.... seems to be some sort of trend at the minute  :-?

Lifters on No6 feel strong.  No6 was missing badly, actually not firing
