Car sales format
« on: 27 May 2010, 23:38:05 »

I notice many on here when trying to sell their Omega, frankly don't do a very good description or even attempt to, then keep bumping the thread etc or ask why it's not selling, some do a good job aswell.
So in an attempt to help, I thought I'd give a very basic format people could use. I use exactly the same format most of the time when I sell a vehicle.
You'll have to delete as appropriate the info etc.

BU07 AYH is a Vauxhall Omega GLS/CD/CDX/Sport/MV6/Elite/Special (engine size + transmission) presented in (whatever colour) with cloth/velour/leather in shale/shadow grey/charcoal, it has covered (miles exactly) from new with full/some service history.
The MOT is valid until the **th of ** 201*
RFL is valid until the **th of ** 201*
The cambelt was last changed on the **th of **, **** at (mileage)
Tyre makes are (whatever) with *mm of tread.
Some of the features include;
(whichever features you feel are most important and model specific)
Price £

I understand to some, selling a vehicle can be daunting and they are not sure what to include...but if you are methodical and give enough accurate information you make sure any potential purchasers are well informed.

You may want to add more info, but typically the above is a bare minimum. I on times have ommited certain things  :-[ but the more info, the better chance of a sale.

Good advice Josh. :y
Just to add. In light of recent posts in Gen Chat. Be careful how you word the description as the PC brigade may deem some terms as offensive :D :D :D

I struggle to understand how people can make adverts which are two lines of badly written text and no photos / price.

Would you shove a pile of clothing in the front of a tatty shop window with a cardboard sign that says "maor inside u'll have to luk to see!!"?

The more detailed description / more photos (especially photos of old MOTs and logbooks), the more I am inclined to ask.

Maybe I'm too picky, but if I see an advert that was written in a manner that says "I don't particularly care" then I get the impression that they have that attitude about their car too!

I've been saying it for yonks Josh.

Some sort of standard format required, after all the standard info + pics and it will help sell even a shed of a car.

Mick ;)

Its quite simple - if you are too stupid to make the effort to do a proper ad, or too stupid to think people will spend time decoding your stupid unpunctuated text speak, your car won't sell.

Lets face it, trying to sell your Omega here is already like trying to sell snow to an eskimo, and it's already a buyer's market, so to stand any chance of selling, the ad needs to be perfect.
