A fair price ?
« on: 12 August 2010, 09:02:08 »

Back in january I was in a bit of a hole with mot and needed to get a nearside catalytic converter fitted asap so against my better judgement I bought a speedy fit exhaust centre jobbie and new lambda .Since fitting car has been getting on my nerves with nasty noise like somebody  blowing down a tube.It has got to the point where i am seriously considering fitting a genuine cat from a breaker which is in our local scrappie.Car is a V reg and according to speedo has 86k on clock..guy says he wants £75 for it then will need to factor in price to have fitted.
Does £75 seem a realistic price considering it is genuine albeit it is is around 10 years old?

Nah. offer him £50 in cash and wave it about when you talk to him. Ten bob says he will bite your hand off, and if he does'nt, he's a fool.

Alternately, there are plenty on here breaking cars, all exhausts on V6's are similar-ish, and you will pay roughly £50 for those bits too.....................

Just a thought, mate.

Genuine cats are worth big money to the scrap man due to the metals inside them

So £50 with a bit of a fight sounds about right again accepting it is a genuine jobbie...expect VX want 10 times more than that for new .
