What do you guys recommend for ease of application to obtain a reasonable lasting wax/shine, for not stupid money? ;)

Meguiars quick clay kit, to get you started about £12, clay the car gets rid of all contaminants etc, then use their Tech Wax 2.0 at £17.99. It'll be like new  :y

Clay Bar followed by Autoglym Super Resin followed by Meguiars NXT Tech Wax. I also use Collinite as a finishing sealer.  :y

Nice shine Del.  :y :y

As for the first bit, I may wipe it down with an oily rag when i've finished scratching it! ::)
As to the garage, that is excellent news as it means there wont be too many scratches!! ::) ;D ;D :y

Thank you all very much Guys, especially you Del for taking the time & trouble to post those amazing pics! :D
I already use a claybar occassionally with great results, but a picture is worth a thousand words as they say, so I think I will try Del's suggestion first? :y

BTW, awesome van mate, & i'm jealous rotten of your back garden! ;D ;D ;D ;)
