If you have a few quid spare, might be worth getting in quick...  How rare are these now??

Meant to say, got nothing to do with me.  Was searching for bits for my Disco and flushed them up as being local via the search string I used...

haha that brings back memories!! mine was a blowthrough system rather than a suckthrough, but boy oh boy 0 to 60 around 6.5seconds and 3 weeks to stop it!!! tried using sherpa commercial pads as they were designed for heavier use and fitted the Sd1 calipers but they were no good after 3 hard stops, ::) even went to jag calipers in the end and it was still frightening!!! lol whole lot of fun though but it really really needed a LSD as it went through rear tyres almost as quick as it went through front pads!! beieve it or not you could remove the entire turbo system in just over an hour ready to fit onto your other rover in another hour!! bought the car for 1100 quid ran it for 223000 miles in 5years, then sold the car without turbos for 650, and sold the turbokit for 550, so the car cost me nothing really except petrol(lots when booting it) and serivicing
costs oh I did fit an RS CAM when the oiginal cried enough at 135000, but other than that and a water pump it was totally reliable, even the electrics!! however as people who know me know i do tend to fuss over my cars servicing anupkeep wise
even though i tend to thrash them silly when i want to!!!

SD1 and front brakes.... two items that were never really destined to work together!

Think I spent most of my money on petrol going round every island sideways when I was 17 in a V8 SD1 VP.....  ::)

Wish I still had one, have you seen what they sell for now? Especially the twin plenum Vitesses.

yep big money, as you say if i could find a good one i would have it like a shot, i owned eleven of them in the day not including the ones i broke for spares. friend of mines father owns an immaculate twin plenum Vitesse, thinking about getting rid for a Jag Xjs convertible, having had both i would defintely rather have the Sd1, however as usual its not all roses on the twin plenum, they have a bad rep for airleaks and poor running, which can only be fixed by new parts and of course they aint available, so single plunum is the better bet
for reliability :y

Not a gerat advert, a bit miss leading.

You need to do quite a bit of work on the SD1 engines to get them to work reliably.

They would bolt on the land rover or range rover ones (SU based) fairly easily.

Trouble is, the Rover V8 is a quite a high wear engine so you might as well rebuild any way if going down that route and then you might as well source a later 4.6 (as they are getting cheaper and easier to find).

By which point its getting pricey so find an LS based small block!  ;D

The twin plenum bit did little for the performance and is MEGA simple and not much over and above the single unit.

A route that works well is to graft a 3.0 24V senator inlet throttle onto the plenum.

I had a Janspeed SD1 many moons back, it was a lot lighter than normal due to parts rusting away :D

I think I only had it for 3 months before the gearbox let go big style, a lot of fun during that time though. It was sold on to a kit car guy as there was no way it would have passed an MOT without being re-shelled!

Idealy you need the first section of the inlet 2 to garft onto it.

It works well because of the

a) Large throttle butterfly for full chat
b) The small secondary butterfly which gives better low power control
