My 03 2.2 went in for test today, failed on a broken spring on the nearside rear, showed up two tyres nearing replacement also, by the time its had the springs done the tyres and mot costs it looks like another £300 gone, still the tyres are wear & tear so can,t complain about that. Why is there always something, and if it go's into the garage its always hundreds, still like it though. :

Don't use a garage then, use one of the regular guys on here like me, Pete or Daz.

rear springs are easy to replace, there's a "how to" in the maintanence section. Basically undo the anti roll bar bushes, about 5 bolts under the diff, the diff drops (ouch !) and springs pop out.

Tend to find the council run ones offer a better fairer service, but aren't the cheapest!!

Thanks for the advice, getting to old to crawl around cars these days, and I live away in thye sticks to call out some of you guys. In fairness the garage is very fair and has helped a lot over the years, but still hurts a bit, all done now and £280 poorer with the dreaded vat. but the old girl feels better.

had one anal test try and fail it for orange paint not being orange enoutgh on indicator bulb

made formal complaint and it passed and he got words of advice

MOT passed on 3.2 - advisory last year was a steering ball joint - only item needed doing this year so ok with that.

Just musing on whether to re-invest "savings" as no MOT work required in doing a by pass to the Parkpilot and put alternative reversing sensors in as I am sick of thinking about solutions to the problem - tried everything just as Entwood has to bottom this issue.

I hate features that do not work.
