Losing Oil & water??
« on: 29 November 2010, 03:07:11 »

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can shed a light on this problem I have with my wifes Astra. Its a mk4 '99 1.6 8v auto 5 dr hatch.

I had the headgasket done by my neighbour who is a sound mechanic about a year ago. Since this has been done, the car is going through oil at a slow but steady rate and is losing coolant at a slightly faster rate.
I have no visible leakes on the floor, it sailed through the MOT & emissions and no yoghurt is visible on either cap or dipstick.
I've asked a local garage for their opinion and all I got was a blank expression.

Any ideas please?   :-?

Thanks, Dave
