Hello all,

I've been toying with the idea of getting a small diesel for the wife as the Elite is getting a little expensive to run.
She, however, likes the Elite ("It's nice and comfortable with heated seats!")-as do I!

What is the cost of gassing the mig-it's a minifacelift 3.0.

Any advice good o bad would be appreciated.

with the rising cost of lpg  makes it less attractive to have lpg fitted  but im sure a fellow member will be able to fit lpg for a good price

Approx.£700 for the kit if you can DIY. Double that to have it fitted by a "professional".
There are DIY guides in the relevant section,and some very knowledgeable members who can give advice etc.
Imo the easiest and cheapest way is to buy a car that has already been converted.

Im a bit unsure if its worth it tbh. LPG has risen from around 65ppl to around 75ppl in the last 6 months. Having said that, petrol has risen a lot too. It depends on how many miles p.a. you do. I would say the savings are, realistically approx. 35%.

Whether in the present economic climate it is still worth converting your car would be mainly down to the mileage you do & whether you are fitting it yourself? :-/
My 2.2  4 pot system cost me £495 & I was on the way to the break even point around 7 months after fitting given that I only do an average of 8000 miles annually . That is now revised upwards slightly as lpg has risen in price slightly faster pro rata than petrol! I have kept a log of my mileages & costs from the beginning & in my case, I get 52% more mileage from gas £1 for £1 than petrol, so if the system was self fitted & you do reasonably high miles & are keeping the car long enough to at least recoup your outlay, then it may still be worthwhile, but you must factor in the cost of an inspection by a certified LPGA Installer (£100ish + vat!) then possibly a tussle with your Insurers to accept the install & finally a possible hike in your Premium come renewal time!

My MV6 does around 10k a year, was converted in Apriil for £580 (excluding costs involved with a possibly unrelated complication), and its already paid for that, and the £90 certification cost.


LPG has mostly run out around these parts currently, so those that have got it are charging 80+ppl.

Managed to fill up at Asda on Friday at 65.9p (inc 1p discount for asda credit card), making that tank average 14.7p per mile.  I get 19.5mpg (calculated, MID reads 22mpg) on gas, and am not the most economic driver (worse since LPG, as you care less about booting it everywhere )

...either way, still a saving of about 10p per mile

That's what I have found since I first had an LPG car... About 10ppl seems to be a fair approximation

Makes me a happy bunny as I've done about 50k on LPG since converting this car That's quite a saving really 8-) 8-)
