Position of gas outlet connection on 4 hole tank
« on: 01 April 2011, 22:18:42 »

New tank arrived today.

I have a 4 hole tank setup - identical to the below:

Now, the filler JIC connection points directly outwards over on the right hand side of the tank, so this will be easy to connect the pipe, and route to quarter panel on drivers side.

The gas OUTLET connection however, isn't pointing in the same direction as the one in the picture above.

When the tank arrived, It was pointing in exactly the same angle as the filler - towards the driver side of the car.

This wouldn't have been suitable, because the (rather large) polyflex connection wouldn't have been able to connect, as it would have fouled on the bracket the air-tight lid connects to.

I managed to rotate the gas outlet port clockwise (IE tighten it) a bit - so now the polyflex connection nicely clears the bracket.

This means, I can run both pipes (filler, and feed) out of the right hand side of the tank - and nothing needs to come out of the left, correct?

(Obviously, sealing the left with the screw in blanking bungs, to keep the box air tight?

Just wanted to confirm fellow DIYer's feel this is OK?

Cheers!

Can't see a problem with doing that myself. :y

I didn't see a problem either, thanks v much for confirming. Just wanted to be 100%. In fact, I think it will be quite tidy, with both emerging on the one side!  :y

Only problem will be if you run both the fill and feed pipe through the same vent hose... Won't be sufficient surface area of vent pipe to comply with COP 11 ;)

I was hoping to do the same as that, avoiding the need for the loop of corrigated pipe on the left.  I was going to run that past you in a few days Mr LF ;)

In my case, I'll obviously have to vent pipes on the right - one for liquid feed and cabling to front of car, other for filler PF.
