hi all. what better diesel engine could i fit? 2.5td? anything else?

my 2.2dti needs a new timing cover and i cant even get it off to replace let alone finding another 2.2dti engine for it.

For UK, 2.2DTi will be the newest engine.  Is yours not repairable?

its a perfect engine but was leaking oil bad from the front crank seal, turns out the last owner used chemical metal to seal a cracked timing case right next to the crankshaft oil seal. but ive tried everything to remove this cover to replace it and have give up. i think the head/sump may need to come off  :(

usually to remove the timing case you have to remove the sump bolts directly below the case, and loosen the others to allow the sump to drop a half inch or so for clearance?
