Paint suppliers ?
« on: 15 May 2011, 00:29:13 »

Going to do a few little jobs on the Elite sometime soon, mainly spraying over small areas where my car has been keyed and stone chips along front bumper. Trouble is, the local auto paint supplier i used 18 months ago has closed down or moved and i can`t find any in my local yellow pages. The last time i bought paint from them a technician checked my car with a number of swatches to match the colour ( Krypton Green ) pretty much exactly and made up a small can and also sold me a can of clear lacquer. All i can find now are the standard spray cans from dealers and accessory shops. Anyone know of a supplier in the Beds/Herts/Bucks area where paint can be mixed to match exact colour?
Cheers,

Robbo.

I've used these people before and found them very good, but not local to you but they do post out....

Now this might seem strange getting an answer from Ireland but I got Z489 paint mixed up into  aerosol cans by a company in Baldock when we lived in Toddington prior to moving here .
They're on the LHS exiting Baldock on the Royston side selling all automotive paint and supplies ( although I believe the new by-pass may make my directions out of date ).
I've did a brief search but couldn't find them but if you look up Yellow pages I'm sure you will.
The quality and match was 1st class so much so I spoke with them about a year ago asking if they would send some over to me here but they politly declined due to the flamable /pressure restrictions involved.
Let me know if you cannot locate them as somewhere deep in my reciepts I will have their name and number.

Watch paint colours. I had a tin of paint from a bradford shop, correct code etc, which I left for a year or so. I came back to respray completely, went back to the same shop for some more paint. He was now using a different supplier, and despite being given the code etc, the paint is a different shade.  :P

Yeah i know that can happen Ken, that`s why i went to this particular auto paint supplier where they also used to do spraying as well. The tech checked my paint with a swatch of around 8 different shades of krypton green and then mixed up a small tin for me. Thanks for the replies chaps.  :y
