It wasnt the sump plug he took out to drain the oil, so the possible lack of oil is a red herring.
Something blocked or restricted air to the engine and it was running on neat diesel ?

Thats half a car wash to Albs!  :y

He actually drained the gearbox oil, and then filled the engine with oil!

I drained the engine completely tonight and got just under 9 litres of oil out! Mr Haynes tells me it should hold 4.25 litres!!!  :o

Anyway, gearbox now filled with nice new oil, and engine fitted with another new filter, the correct amount of oil, and new fuel, air and pollen filters for good measure.  ;)

A good blast around the B roads and any remaining smoke from the back has cleared and she's running as sweet as a nut!  :y

Quite impressive really, and a lucky escape!!  ::)

I hope you gave him the Swansea address to send his license to.

I dont think 'everyone' should be able to do an oil change, but damn it........ if you attempt it and mess it up that bad, the only vehicle you should be allowed to travel in is the 'Special Bus'.  ;D

Purely out of curiosity, what phrases did you use when explaining it to the plum  ::)

I didn't give him too much of a hard time tbh. I could see how embarrassed he was, and at least he had a go. Everyone has to start somewhere, and at least he has learnt from the experience!  :y
