Hi, no it doesn't cause a problem, because i don't fit the plenum on straight away, give it time to dry out thoroughly.
Also, the plenum doesn't really get that hot to make the paint flake off.

you not driving it right the steve  ;D ;D ;D.
mine gets mad hot.

lol i think the problem maybe that it's right above a hot engine and its physically bolted to it also i think it's bound to get hot unless you have an automated "water pouring bucket mechanism" mounted over your engine...or your driving it in sub-zero conditions down big hills  ;D

They used to do this a lot on the older fords and it never really caused any problems. I did it on three escorts with the cam covers and the heat never really bothered it. But we used to use proper car aerosols and about ten coats of laquer afterwards then let it fully dry for about a week before fitting. Generally it would last about 1 1/2 years before needing a recoat.

Well worth it if your in to a crisp clean engine bay  :D

i do like to have a good clean engine bay.
So next week, when all of my bits have turned up, i will be fitting new plugs and leads, a shiney new throttle body, and obviously my plenum.
So while all that is off, i will be giving the engine i can now get to a good clean.
Will be posting pics after the event
