Aux. Diesel Heater Unit (Webasto or similar)
« on: 28 October 2010, 20:47:31 »

Wanted Please for one of Deb`s 'projects': a diesel powered auxiliary coolant heater unit from any diesel Miggy being broken, which has been equipped with one.
Working or not! ;)

I`m planning a stand-alone water/air heater unit, so that when the dogs and I go to (the frequently) inclement sheepdog trials, we can stay toasty and dry in the car....I intend on running the heater with cheap red-diesel. :y

Try a mini-propec Debs........

They run on red, and ablow out warm air. the smallest ones don't cost much on e-bay......about £50.

Got one in my caravan.................................a gallon of red lasts about a week!!

Would be from a 2.2 then Debs, or some BMW,s have them,e39 diesels certainly. I'm also told, used on some canal barges  :). ....and also apparently, almost impossible to fix once they fail  :-/

BMW breakers are a good source, but I guess the price to match.  ;D

It's missing from my DTi Elite  :o Pipe has been linked together with a copper elbow and two jubilee clips!

I'll have to borrow the one off Mrs VXL V6's estate when she's not looking!

After a couple of enquiries, it seems the "mini-propec" is no longer made, and hasn't been made since 2002!!

(means I won't get any spares for mine, then!)

The closest thing is a PROPEX heater, (similar name, but not the same company) seems to do the same job though, but a bit bigger size.

Hope that helps............................

:yI did do a search and couldn`t find any by Propec.....I`ll have a look on the E of Bay for Propex; as usual, funds are an issue, but maybe I`ll be lucky. ;)
