Fix one thing and.......
« on: 13 August 2007, 15:25:19 »

Another problem pops up. Yes this is the fun world of Omegas.

This time it is the ex-laidbacks 2.5 CD Facelift. Just did camn covers last week. Still very smokey from passenger bank, so closer inspection reveals a drip from the casting bore. Had 18 of these cars only two have done this. My very first one and ironically what is my very last one!

So, can't sell this yet. I will strip the camcover back off and look a LOT closer into this. I suspect a blocked oilway or something, so some flushing and more oil changes on the cards. Then fix it again and finish this nightmare once and for all.

Still to do Mrs Ronnies Estate, but that has to stay for now until I actually find any car that is worth buying. It will NOT be vauxhall!

What do you mean when you say casting bore?

I had an oil leak when I rebuilt a Renault Laguna. Turns out the bores for the cam bearing cap bolts were bored right through to an area above the manifold flange and oil was forcing its' way pas the cap bolts around the threads and dripping onto the manifold. I removed the cam cap bolts and sealed the threads with a little loctite. Stopped leaking after that.

Sorry Nick, did you squeek? ;D

Kevin. On the V6 there are somje casting holes for the Vectra fittings. These are on both sides of the cylinder heads where the wierd looking plenum thing goes on the Vectra. On the Omega they are unused. Two cars I have had oil force its way through and just drip, drip, drip, drip........

Ahh, OK. I guess they're supposed to be blind holes, then?
