WOW!

You are a friendly lot.

Thanks for such a warm welcome.

I've had my Omega 9 years this March and I love it.

However, she just doesn't get out enough these days (tell me about it) and is, I am ashamed to say becoming a little neglected - I walk past this car and feel guilty.

For 12 months I have been undecided what to do.

Meticulously cared for and maintained regardless of cost (never even been hand washed without a steam clean or pressure wash first) and has never needed a valet in the time I've owned it.

The gearbox issue has been present for the last 3-4000 miles and because I've been undecided about keeping the car has been put on the back burner bearing in mind what I thought the cost of a repair might be.

The changing of the ATF fluid as a solution to the problem has given me renewed hope that I may hang on to this car.

After all, where else could I find such a capable mile swallower of this age that I know the history of.
Sure I'll have to tax/insure/mot the car but that is par for the course.

I also have another small issue with starting that I thought was the crank sensor but after replacing that the problem still remains i.e. car will start perfectly and then next time will not. Leave a day or two and starts again just fine. sometimes the car will be ticking over and stop and will not start.

I replaced fuel pump in tank but the problem is still there. Maybe I'll start a new thread about this.

Thanks very much once again for being so helpful and welcoming.

Best Regards,

Paul.

I found them to be a great bunch so I decided to stay..... :y

All best to ask questions in the relevent sections, juding from your comments and the history of your car I too would suggest an ATF and filter change for the Auto box.  Then after that there is a Tech 2 upgrade that can be done the reset the electronics in the box for a different gearchange pattern and locks 4rh gear in some way that helps with fuel MPG and a smoother drive overall.  Plus there are other Tech 2 mods, Look at TheBoys Profiles and click the Tech 2 link for details.  Many have had the Gearbox upgrade and are well chuffed with it, when able I will be having both of my Auto's done.
