best oil for my car
« on: 16 November 2006, 13:01:03 »

Hi guys,

Haven't been here for a few weeks - been so flipping busy - where does time go!?

Need to top up my oil, but car was serviced by independant garage just before I bought it in July, so not sure what oil they used.

What's the best oil to top up my year 2000 (facelift) 2.5td saloon, or should I just replace the lot.

I know what it says in the handbook, but often others know better!

Cheers,

Dave.

Its official - its an oil thread everyone  ;D

In answer to your question would be semi synth for pertrol cars ( its been discussed and debated a few times by us lol)   :-/ one of the oil burner owners will be able to help for a diesel car...

The same stuff they used.  If you don't know, replace oil, won't do any harm ;)

It surprises me the fact that you even considered toping up the current oil. You should just change oil and oil filter mate. Best for diesel is ACEA B3/B5 spec. Or if you want you can use Valvoline Premium Blue with ACEA E5 which you should get at good price and is the one i would use on any old diesel engine.
