Rear wheel bearing
« on: 18 November 2006, 21:41:01 »

Hello again all of you. I think one of my rear wheel bearings is singing a bit. Has anyone changed one of these? Is it do-able?

BTW I have watched the Cambelt DVD but have still not done it. I must start getting the parts together soon. If anyone is planning a party please keep me in mind... ;)

I have no idea on the bearings mate, I'm sure one of the experts will shed some light :)

Cambelt is a doddle with the DVD and locking kit.

The rear wheel bearings are a real pain in the thingy to change, although probably slightly easier with the correct presses etc.
It took us around 5 hours to change 1 on mine earlier this year, and ended up having to 'fabricate' some tools for the job.
If you do get the shaft out I would store it in the freezer as soon as you can. It makes it a whole lot easier to get back into the bearing.

Took me 5 hours once on a clit - took the other wheel to the garage and they did it in 20 mins - acetylene torches are great!

Worth paying half hour labour for  ;)
