Water Ingress!
« on: 10 December 2006, 14:42:57 »

Guys

I know this may seem a daft question but I have water gathering under the carpet in the rear passenger side footwell area!

I have removed the little grommet but wondered where the water may be coming from?

Door seals appear okay, could it be thrown from drive shaft and run down into cabin?, if this was the case then surely it would be drivers side too?

Please help

Jonny

is there any water in the front passenger foot well?

Its common for water to leak in though there due to a blocked scuttle drain, but never heard of water getting into the rear foot wells.

There's a grommet that covers the wires for the electric windows etc a on the B pillar - possible but its a long shot.

The only real way to know it to strip out the carpet, dry the floor thorughly and sit inside whilst some one gives it a blast with a hose and trace it back from there. If that doesn't work put down some paper and check it regularly until it gets wet.

Final thought check the window is shut - may sound daft but my wife's 05 Meriva rear windows drop overtime if not used.  Look for streaks on the inside of the glass.  :y

Have you removed the rear seat to see if any water under there?

I have investigated further, the boot and rear seat are dry, I have also ran a hose on the door seals they too are dry.

There is water in the front passenger footwell, I am stumped as to where this water is coming from, I ran the aircon to see if it was condensation build up from the heater matrix, all lagging etc around back of centre console is dry?

I am really stumped now, will keep an eye on the situation.

Under the pollen filter, lift the flap at the rear right of the engine bay.....
