More alignment figures
« on: 29 January 2007, 14:27:58 »

I had the geometry done on the MV6 today following the replacement of both the lower wishbones and steering idler.

Turns out the nearside rear toe adjuster rod was seized like a bandit despite being regularly soaked in Plusgas/WD40 for several weeks past.  No amount of heat or persuasion could get it undone, so setting left untouched but it did come down for some reason and is out of spec.

My scanner is broken at the moment, but here are the before and after readings, if anyone would care to comment or advise.  Car certainly handles the better for it and hopefully the tyre wear will improve also.

Thanks Mark.  Guessing that is a figure for the rear?  Appears only way to adjust the front is via bolts and holes on strut to wishbone mount.

Otherwise, do the figures add up as its kinda smoke & mirrors type stuff to me really....   :-[

No, that figure is for the front........and yes it is a set of bolts with a slotted hole but, not so hard to adjust in reality.

Not much toe on the front, will be ineteresting to here your feedback on how it drives (does it tram line?)

Car used to tramline quite a bit but suspension was replaced at the same time as the tyres, and all was OK.  Until the new tyres wore in on the wrong settings!  Then tramlined quite considerably, catching all tar reinstatements, lorry ruts on the roadsurface etc.

Now, when its been rest and adjusted, car runs quite straight and even - not even a pull to the left which seems to be the Omega norm - but I still have to swap tyres front to rear to eliminate the wear thats already on them.

Will probably go back and get it reset again to eliminate everything and to the best recommended, once I get a reply from Tony at WIM.  Also, when I eventually free off the rear tie adjuster!
