Wing mirror help!
« on: 29 January 2007, 18:09:34 »

Hi,

Some light finger sod has nicked my passenger wing mirror glass and the cradle (or whatever you call the bit that holds the glass in) last night.
I have an Omega 2001 CDX, I did try phoning the dealer but he just started quoting me silly money until I made my excuses and hastily hung up.

I have had a nosy around eBay and some other sites and can pick up a replacement complete electric wing mirror for a reasonable amount (£25ish), I will just whip out the required bits and have a go at fitting this myself however, the ones I saw were for pre 99 models, can someone restore my faith in humanity and tell me if they know if the glass and cradle would fit my newer model?

When you say cradle has the whole mirror gone?? The part which is the same colour as the body work?

Facelift mirrors are a different design to pre-facelift, so i doubt parts will fit.  :(

Hi, thank for getting back to me,

The glass itself has been nicked and I think the part (bracket?, I’m going by my previous car so I am not too sure on this) that you attach the glass to before clipping it into the mirror.

The actual wing mirror is unharmed, the parts inside have been carefully removed, even the wiring has been carefully unplugged, not snapped

Where I live in Glasgow the street parking is very tight, it’s a frequent occurrence to get your wing mirrors whacked/broken by passing cars. Someone must have sustained damage and nicked mine as a replacement.

Hi, some of the online scrappy's have got back to me in the last hour or so, about £50 supplied.

Many thanks for all of the good folks in this forum, was it not for you i would have blown another £30 on non matching parts, much appreciated. :)

If you could just replace the glass Vx supply them for about £20 - I speak from experience :-[  Check with Vx if the mount plate is fixed to the glass as I just cleared out the smashed pieces and popped in a new one.  :-?
