Power steering
« on: 01 February 2007, 21:49:41 »

The power steering drops out momentarily soon after starting the engine while getting out of parking space.  Seems to only do it turning right.  Ideas?  Is it even worth worrying about?  Cheers.

I was thinking of checking the fluid, but it's messy  :P

Its got a dip stick built onto the cap, should be nice and easy to check. Maybe worth doing it cold & warm. PAS fluid is easily overlooked in servicing...

It's an easy check, but wipe off any dirt from the fluid bottle and cap before opening it to prevent contamination of the fluid in the reservoir.

The correct ATF to use is Dexron II, not Dexron III. Around £7 per Litre from Vx Retail (I think).

I had a peugeot 605 SVE M reg 3.0, it was a beautiful car, but the power steering would randomly die on that one altogether..

Fluid level was fine..

Never did solve it.
