Tried to scratch its ear today.  Left front had a mild shake while accelerating hard on a left uphill sweeper.  Tires recently balanced.  I'm thinking combo of dead wishbones and shocks?  Should I go over to that other site to ask what shocks to get?

well when I drove my old omega last christmas, the shocks were shot and when I pushed it round a few bends the arse end was all over the shop. Once parked up, pushing down on the rear quarter it came back up again - and then after a second or two the entire back of the car did what I can only describe as wiggled ... not good ... but it sounds very similar to what you're describing!!

So I'd lean more towards shocks ...

Yes, but I should probably add that there is quite a rattle when I hit a pothole with the ns front.  Is there a reasonable way to check the wishbones?  The shocks are definitely toast, but I should do both since will need an alignment.

If it's a metallic ratle then it could also be a piece of snapped spring sitting it it's mounting.

As said before....Bilstein shocks from balance motor sport.....they do the Bilstein OEM shocks whcih do not affect ride quality.......but the shocks are superior to Gm...

OK, cheers!  I didn't catch that before.  Those are 158 for the set.  I guess that means I am better off disconnecting the air-levelling?

rattle over potholes could also be the drop links. When I changed my wishbones, I jacked up the nearside after removing the wheel, when the spring was fully extended the wishbone was angled downwards and you could clearly see the vertical bush poking out of its' hole in the wishbone ...

Thanks for the comments on the droplinks.  I'm trying not to spend too much at once here, but it looks like I should just do those too.  It isn't a metallic rattle, more like the wheel shaking around in the wheel well, but I could be imagining things.  

I need to see how much the alignment is going to be.  I want to just do the front struts, wishbones, and alignment this time.  That would be about 200 quid.  If I do 4 shocks, wishbones, droplinks and alignment it will be about 300 quid.

If it is any help I've got a spirit level type camber guage you could borrow (on on the Warwickshire, West mids border)  I know it is not as good as a professional set up but if you are doing front shocks it will at least get you in the right zone (I've done about 4k since I did mine and I don't have any odd tyre wear yet, fingers crossed.....) unitl the cash lets you get it done properly
