Discs and pads

The car I have just bought needs new front discs and pads very quickly. I have read the previous post about discs and would normally buy genuine Vx stuff but I haven't got a TC card. So the question is I can get Mintex discs and pads delivered for £70 or would you spash out and buy the VX stuff also does anyone know the approx price of VX front discs and pads for a 98 Elite Estate.
