Its not going to be the OS api per se, but the fact that vista is resource hungry, so may make the device even less reliable (if that is possible!)

Good point... I have installed Vista on two PCs at home, might get the laptop Vistaed (is this English?) as well and give it a go then....

What in the world is the rush?!  :-?

It looks nicer - like a Mac, but afaik it is slower, has a bunch of problems, and doesn't do anything new and useful?

The interface, whilst initially frustrating for XP users (as XP was to W2K users), must be better - you don't realise it until you go back to XP after using Vista for a while.  I'm been a Vista user for well over a year, and if it wasn't for the resource requirements, I would have it on all my machines.

I have no opinion about Vista as such...  :o

It's there, it's Microsoft, and we will all have to use it sooner or later so we might as well just get on with it.   :)

I do suspect, with higher hardware requirements and seemingly more robust antivation, that many consumers may wait until they need a new machine. Corporates, although there are lots of nice things for them in Vista, traditionally wait a while as well.
