Fuel filter clips, how too get them off?
« on: 24 March 2007, 16:53:01 »

Hi,

As above, without breaking them, doing my head in, want to get this and the oil changed but can't seem to get the clips off without chewing them with a screwdriver.

Any tips please?

Cheers,
Iain

There is a special tool, but I use a small screwdriver.  However, if the stealer didn't sell you replacement clips, then he was a idiot, because I wouldn't do the job without (although I've never broken one myself).  Also, as there are going to be brittle, I would want new ones to go on with every filter anyway...

Muppets.

As said, you can remove using small screwdriver.  I guess you will have to reuse. Or wait until you get to a dealer on Monday?

Glad you're sorted.  I hate doing fuel filters.  Having them do mine while it is on the rack Monday for the alignment.

Its a simple job.  The key is to keep out of the way of petrol. Isn't it Laidback ;)

Oh I've done it before on other cars.  I even have the little tool for the clips in the states.  It isn't hard, but I still hate fuel running down my arms.  One of the few things I'm happy to pay someone else to do.  Actually, I'm pretty sure that they're going to put it in for free with the alignment.  :)
